Questions, bug reports, and suggestions all go to the same place, and a person reads every one.
If you are reporting something that looks wrong, the two dates you entered and the number the app returned are enough for us to reproduce it. Please do not include patient names, member numbers, or authorization numbers in your message — we do not need them, and the app is built specifically so that no one has to send them.
How the count works
Unit Match counts every date the authorization covers, including both the first and the last date of service. July 1 through July 31 is 31 covered days. Subtracting one date from the other returns 30, because subtraction gives the number of nights between two dates, which is always one fewer than the number of days covered.
On a daily-rate authorization one unit is billed per covered day, so the subtraction is short by exactly one unit on every span, no matter how long the span is.
The count looks off by one
Check which number you are comparing against. If a payer portal or a spreadsheet formula produced the other number, it is likely subtracting the dates rather than counting the covered days. The app’s “Why both dates count” panel shows both calculations side by side for the exact span you entered, which is usually the fastest way to see where the difference comes from.
If the count still looks wrong, email us the two dates and what you expected.
Units authorized is optional
Leaving the units field empty is not the same as entering zero. An empty field means the question was not asked, so the app shows the day count alone and reports no variance. Enter a number only when you want the count checked against it.
Saved counts
Saved counts live on your device. They are not synced, not backed up to any server, and not shared between devices. Deleting the app deletes them. If you need a record outside the app, use Export PDF.
Privacy
The app collects nothing and makes no network requests. Full details are in the privacy policy.
A note on what this tool is
Unit Match is a calculation aid. It performs calendar arithmetic and a comparison. It is not billing advice, and it does not know your payer’s contract. Always verify the count against the authorization’s own terms and the payer’s rules before you bill or appeal.
